Pediatrics
Considered one of the program’s strengths, the pediatric training experience is based on a high volume, ambulatory practice within our own center’s patient population. Upon completion of training, our graduates are experienced in all aspects of routine and preventive care of infants and children and are capable of providing well newborn nursery services.

The Family Medicine Faculty provides on going supervision within the Family Medicine Center and also precept a full service pediatrics rotation for all residents (including well child nursery, inpatient pediatric care, and ambulatory care). Residents are enrolled in the Johns’ Hopkins Internet Learning Curriculum for Ambulatory Pediatrics.

Residents also participate as “PGY-II’s” on the general ward service of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine’s pediatric residency program at The Children’s Hospital.

Included in training are a rotation in NICU as well as PALS and NALS training.
